How to Effectively Onboard New Hires
Program Purpose
The purpose of developing this workshop was to provide leaders with the ability to effectively onboard new hires to their departments. This training will provide leaders with the skills to support new hires to better understand the organization’s expectations of their new job and give each new hire the tools they need to be effective and successful in their new role.
The goal is for leaders to return to the workplace with the skills to provide new hires with the information, resources, and support they need to become fully engaged in their roles, and understand how they contribute to the overall mission and vision of the organization.
Instructional Design Model
The below documents incorporate the Dick & Carey (1996) Instructional Design (ID) model that was used to develop this project. The project began with identifying the business need for developing a leadership course on effective onboarding. Once the business need was identified, the audience was analyzed to determine learner's characteristics and the context of the learning. This then helped to support the development of the learning objectives and how the learning would be assessed. This then lead to the last stage which was to design a formative and summative evaluation plan that would identify areas of improvement for the program. While this program followed this Dick & Carey ID, the link below to the ID model incorprorates the real-life journey of designing this learning module.
