CSU Pingree Park - Experiential Learning Seminar

I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Experiential Learning seminar at Pingree Park, at Colorado State University. This was a week-long seminar that explored the many tenats of experiential learning. It was in this seminar that I began to develop a philosophy for teaching of my own that is learner-centric, and based on exploring adult learner experience's to foster deep mearning.

This seminar introduced me to topics in adult learning theory such as: learning transfer, transformative learning theory, experiential learning, critical reflection, metaphoric framing, scaffolding, schema learning theory, and much more. Removing my facilitator hat, and being in the learner that week was a very organic experience. Rather than being "taught" these learning theories and modalities, I EXPERIENCED them, and thus developed a deeper meaning. This exploration helped me to explore the attributes and qualities that I want to be as a facilitator of learning.

This seminar was more than an academic experience. I truly accomplished many personal goals, I hadn't consciously set for myself. I learned from about the field of adult learning from my peers that each had came with a diverse professional background. We learned from each other. We learned about each other's personal barriers and limitations, and how to flex our style for learners. I found myself breaking down barriers and exploring the inner landscape of me; as an individual, professional, and facilitator of learning. I welcome you to explore my reflection and synthesis experience at Pinegree Park, and view some of the candid images that were captured during this experience.
